"Achates" Agate Gemstone Necklace

The name Achates originates from Greek legend where the agate was found in the Sicillian river Achates.  The name of the river has now changed but it is still a major source of agate. 

The orange variety of the beautiful agate is perfect for an oxidised wire wrap - each coloured gemstone necklace is very slightly different because being genuine gems, they all vary slightly.  An example of some of the varieties are seen above.  Being faceted each teardrop catches the light and look an absolute treasure around the neck of the lucky lady who will own this handmade designer jewellery.  Having made a silver ring and again, oxidised the loop, this is wrapped within the design to make sure that the teardrop pendant swings freely.
